Ms. Padilla was born in Guatemala. She immigrated to the United States in 1983. She obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and her law degree from Whittier Law School. In addition to being the founding attorney for the Law Office of Annaluisa Padilla, she currently serves as the President of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). She has also served in various capacities with the Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA), including past Assistant VP of the Board of Trustees and Chair of their Immigration Section. As a divorce lawyer, she is also a member of LACBA's family law section and the American Bar Association (ABA)
Ms. Padilla has over 20 years experience in family law and immigration law, representing individuals and corporations at all stages of their legal matters including litigation and appeals. She is a firm believer in giving back to the community and has volunteered with the Central American Resource Center (CARECEN), LACBA's Domestic Violence Project, and has served as mentor for the United Nations High Commission on Refugees (UNHCR) and Kids In Need of Defense (KIND). Ms. Padilla is also a frequent legal commentator on CNN International, CCTV, MSNBC, Univision and Telemundo. She has given numerous presentations on issues covering immigration benefits, know your rights, and the interplay between family law and immigration law.
Bar Admission and Education
Christine Brito was born in Orange, California and of Mexican-Peruvian descent. She obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 2012, and her law degree from Loyola Law School in 2017. Christine has over six years of experience serving low-income, monolingual immigrant families acquire legal status. She also volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for two years before moving back to Southern California. As a Public Interest Scholar at Loyola Law School, Christine participated in the Loyola Immigrant Justice Clinic for two years and served as a law clerk for Olmos and Reynolds during law school. In December 2016, she received the Darlene R. Seligman Immigration Law Award for academic achievement. After graduation, Christine is our associate immigration lawyer and divorce lawyer. Christine is an avid runner and Boston Terrier mom.
Bar Admission and Education
Mayra Bañuelos joined the Law Office of Annaluisa Padilla in 2016. She is the principal Legal Assistant for our office. She oversees client intakes, gathering of client information and documents, preparing applications for the immigration lawyer to review, maintaining client files and assisting with general inquiries. She is in charge of ensuring timely and accurate completion of case paperwork and monitors cases with USCIS. She is fluent in Spanish.
Laura Razo joined the Law Office of Annaluisa Padilla in 2018. She is the Firm's Receptionist and our clients' first contact. Laura is in charge of maintaining the Firm's calendar and scheduling client appointments with the lawyers. She is responsible for incoming and outgoing mail, answering the Firm's telephone calls and online inquiries, setting up consultations and following up with clients. She is fluent in Spanish.
